Paralegal – estate planning

Part-time (20 hours), remote opportunity in the eastern time zone

We are in search of an estate planning paralegal to support our client and their team of attorneysThis important position involves critical administrative duties related to the law firm and direct attorney support.

Duties:

· draft probate and administration documents

· collect, analyze, and organize decedents’ financial records – including tax returns, inter vivos, trust agreements, and financial statements

· value decedent’s assets at the date of death and determine liabilities of the trust and/or estate

· prepare required documents in connection with the release of federal and state estate tax liens on real property

· draft executor’s deeds

· assist with post-mortem estate planning and draft disclaimer documents

· prepare u.sAnd non-resident estate tax and inheritance tax returns

· prepare required documents in connection with the distribution of general and specific bequests, interim and residuary distributions, and the funding of testamentary trusts

· compile materials required in connection with an audit of estate tax returns

· prepare and file accountings and related settlement documents

· assist with drafting estate planning documents

· perform other general office duties as requested

Qualifications:

· 3+ years’ experience working for an attorney in estate planning

· legal knowledge, including court procedures and government regulation

· experience supporting an attorney remotely

· personable, professional, and respectful demeanor

· excellent verbal and written communication skills

· team player

· thorough - paying attention to detail

· constantly seeking the opportunity to offer help (proactivity is a must!)

· fully understand estate planning case lifecycle w/ability to anticipate `what`s next` and drive the case forward

· e-filing experience

· experience working in law-based crm (such as clio)

· experience working in lawpay and hot docs (non-cloud-based program)

· must be on a pc (not mac)

This is a 1099 contractor positionPay commensurate with experience.

Pay range: $24-$28 per hour
